From the recording Ruston

The last song written in our first home in Tucson. Started as a writing exercise, a demo was recorded on my iPhone and documented on Instagram before reworking a full studio version. A song about growing, chasing dreams, and space.

Lyrics

You're out back
Watching ice crack
Those empty bottles
Left out cause we forgot 'em
I can't explain it
Feels like we're changing, just
Don't leave me behind
Don't leave me behind

Not so long ago
We both dreamed we'd sail like astronauts
To the stars and the spaces between them
Maybe we'd make friends with aliens
Life beat that out of me
Scaled back who I want to be
But you've made up your mind

Now you're sewing up a spacesuit
Made of foil tape and tights
You are blasting off to someplace
That exists just in your mind

You're out back
Watching ice crack
Those empty bottles
Left out cause we forgot 'em
I can't explain it
Feels like we're changing, just
Don't leave me behind
Don't leave me behind

Just the other day
The roof began to shake on our old house
As if an earthquake or Santa or Jesus
Had returned and landed
Neighbors ran into the street
Do you know what it could be
I just looked to the sky

I could see you in your cabin
With your helmet locked on tight
You are blasting off to someplace
We've yet to identify

You're out back
Watching ice crack
Those empty bottles
Left out cause we forgot 'em
I can't explain it
Feels like we're changing, just
Don't leave me behind
Don't leave me behind
